GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.-- Are you just itching to get into your yard? Susie Bachman says, "Not so fast."

Here are some things homeowners should be doing in their yard in April:

1. Start veggies and bulbs indoors and harden off your plants
2. Clean out perennial and shrub beds now. Wait to plant your flowers and veggies until after the last the last frost date which is usually mid-May.
3. Pick up or rake yard waste and use compostable lawn bags to discard the waste.

Most woodies should have been pruned when it was still winter when they were dormant.
Early April is the last chance to prune before leaves and flowers emerge and prune to maintain a meticulous shape.
