MINNEAPOLIS - This weekend it's all about moms. And if you want to celebrate in a unique way, head to White Bear Lake's quaint downtown for afternoon tea. The Avalon Tearoom & Pastry Shoppe is hosting a four-course afternoon tea Saturday, May 12th.
"Tea just make you feel so special you know you're served it's always the fine china and the pretty tea cups," said Becky Radel, co-owner of the Tearoom.
There are two settings, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and both are nearly filled up. Make your reservation now and don't even think about passing on the scones.
From one indulgence to another, we've found the perfect Mother's Day gift.
"It's a very high grade of chocolate, they're all hand made here in Minnesota," said Judy Wilson-Grote, an employee at 'Just Truffles.'
Skip the drugstore chocolates and head to historic Grand Avenue in St. Paul. 'Just Truffles' makes some of the most decadent chocolate around. And for this special occasion, there are decorative Mother's Day boxes.
Finally, if you're looking for some excitement head to the May Day parade and festival at Powderhorn Park. This colorful event was supposed to be last weekend but it got rained out. Now you have another chance to hit up this family-friendly event. Parade starts at 1 p.m. The festival follows with live music food and vendors.
