MINNEAPOLIS - A Minneapolis man has been charged in connection with a deadly stabbing earlier this week.
Abdirahim Mahamed Jama, 38, was charged on Wednesday with two felony counts of murder in the second degree in Hennepin County.
Prosecutors believe Jama stabbed Abdurahman Warfa in an apartment on the 500 block of Cedar Avenue South late Monday night. Both men lived in the apartment.
A witness told police Jama and Warfa got into an argument over Warfa's girlfriend and their relationship. The witness said at one point in the argument Jama went into the kitchen and grabbed a knife.
A third person in the apartment grabbed Jama, causing them to fall over. However, Jama allegedly got away and walked over to Warfa and stabbed him one time in the side of the neck.
Jama claims he and Warfa were the only ones in the apartment when the stabbing took place. He told police he was eating when Warfa began punching him. Jama said he stabbed Warfa as he was trying to deflect the punches.
Jama is being held in the Hennepin County Jail.
