ST. LOUIS, Minn. - Flames lit up the night sky in St. Louis Park early Thursday as crews fought an aggressive house fire.
When first responders arrived at 3901 Basswood Lane just before 3 a.m. fire was leaping from the back of the structure. Two residents who were inside awoke to crackling noises and were able to safely escape.
Fire crews attacked to keep the flames from jumping from the attached porch into the living quarters. They were able to save most of the structure but there will be significant smoke and water damage.
St. Louis Park Fire Chief Luke Stemmer says damages to the home could run as high as $1 million dollars.
Stemmer says the same home was gutted ten years ago when it was struck by lightning during a storm.
At this point investigators have not identified a cause. St. Louis Park firefighters were helped by crews from Edina, Golden Valley, Hopkins and paramedics from Hennepin County Medical Center.
