GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Few would argue that Martin Sheen and his son Emilio Estevez are Hollywood success stories when it comes to acting and directing.
Doing promos for local television stations...? Not so much.
Sheen and Estevez dropped by the KARE 11 Today show Tuesday to promo their new movie "The Way" which will soon debut across the nation, and here in the Twin Cities.
Being the good sports they are, Estevez and Sheen agreed to do a promo for KARE 11 Sunrise, but they just couldn't seem to get the concept, or the copy producers wanted them to read.
After plenty of fumbling and bumbling around on both sides of the camera, the source of the communication divide was discovered.
Turns out, the guys thought "KARE 11 Sunrise" was instead "Carol Evans Sunrise," a show hosted by... well... a woman named Carol Evans.
Once the goof was unearthed, Sheen and Estevez delivered a useable take and the guys got on their way to the next stop.
There is actually a history of confusion surround the KARE 11 brand. As old timers tell it, there was once an intern named Carrie Levin, who worked at KARE 11....
You can't make this stuff up.
