ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Its easily the smelliest and youngest Record Wreckers yet.
Local companies Do Good Diaper Service and Peapods are teaming with other baby stores around the globe to attempt the Guinness World Record for the most cloth diapers changed simultaneously.
Its all part of an effort to raise awareness towards the environmental health benefits of cloth diapers over plastic.
"Ever year, Americans throw away more than 25 billion disposable diapers," says Do Good Diaper Service owner Peter Allen. "So I think this is a way to show that cloth has become more main stream and that its accessable and easy for parents to do."
"Lets show the general public how cloth diapers have changed over the passed 10 years, how its gotten so much easier and how its more doable than it might have been for our mothers and grandmothers to do," says Peapods co-owner Dan Marshall.
The event gets started at Peapods at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 23. How long the smell will last is anyone's guess, but the novelty of this record attempt is worth the stench for the folks here."
"I think its hilarious. When you think about it, we're changing diapers to set a record," says Allen. "I mean, there' s a lot of goofy things out there but this could be one of the more sillier things out there."
There's still time for parents to sign their toddlers up. More information is available at greatclothdiaperchange.com.
