BROOKLYN CENTER - The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the woman killed in a two-vehicle crash at eastbound I-694 and Shingle Creek Boulevard Monday night.
Investigators say 62-year-old Joann Rogers of Maple Grove was trying to get around traffic by driving on the right shoulder of the freeway when at the last minute she tried to cut over into the right lane.
At that point, the patrol says, Rogers rear ended a semi that was stopped, causing her fatal injuries. The 54-year-old truck driver was uninjured.
The fatal crash happened just before 8 p.m., closing down lanes of the busy freeway for hours as the scene was investigated and cleaned up.
