LAKELAND, Minn. - One person is dead after a crash on I-94 near the St. Croix River Thursday afternoon.
Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol says the male driver was going westbound on I-94 near Lakeland, Minn. when he lost control of his car, went through the median and under a semi trailer. Roeske says the driver died of his injuries.
The crash caused significant delays in the eastbound lanes of I-94 as authorities investigated the scene. Drivers reported six-mile back-ups as they waited for the scene to clear.
The State Patrol has not released information about why the driver lost control or whether weather was a factor. The man's identity is being withheld until his family can be notified.
